Final week

 Final Week

This is the final blog for the class. This week, I read through the reading materials. There was one thing that stood out to me. It was from Tom Monaghan. He became rich at some point. However, he decides to give all his wealth to others. He wanted to go to heaven. He thought that was the one way that he can build the kingdom of God. He didn't want to sin anymore. He thought that pride is the foundation of sins which I agree with, so he gave up most of his wealth. I thought that it wasn't right because I don't think I can give up those. However, he was happy with what he has done even though he lives in a dorm. For him, one of the most important things was eternal. Money can't last forever. Soon after he recognized it, it changed his life. I haven't had that much wealth in my life, so I desire to earn much money, so I don't have a moment that I am struggling with money. However, I need to be careful with pride. It might ruin my life.

This was the last week of the semester as well as the class. I learned so many things from this class. I read many lives of entrepreneurs. I figured that being an entrepreneur isn't easy. I have to take risks. However, it is something that I want to do in the future. I have to be careful to start my own business with only ideas. I have to have plans, and people to work with. The most important thing is a vision. I know that a vision will guide me to the right place. 

I don't really know what advice to give because I haven't achieved anything. One thing I can say is as a student, I have to take education seriously. Education would give me more opportunities to get a job or start my own business.

Week 13

 Week 13

I was able to read many reading assignments this week. Also, I learned about life of Randy Haykin's life. His experiences taught me a lot. One thing I learned is that he was educated. Sometimes, I think that education is not helpful if I can start my own business because I thought I could just do it if I have an idea. However, education is very helpful because I can experience from many places. I can also find people to work with while I am studying together. It motivated me to work hard in college.  Also, I need to ponder how much education I could get. I hope to like studying more.

Also, I learned that I don't need to be an expert at something. I mean it is good to be an expert at something that others don't do. I think it is the point. I need to find something different. These days, everyone is good at something, so it is hard to find something I can only do. I recognize that I need to work on something that everyone does, at the same time, I should explore jobs or skills. From the reading assignment, It said that I will most likely work for two or three years at the first job. I think that is the time that I need to explore. Of course, I could start now, but I am very experienced yet. I have no idea how the company operates. I should try my best to get into the biggest company I could get into. It will help me learn how I could be an entrepreneur.

Lastly, I need to work on developing my leadership skills. I need to have a vision. This vision will convince others to work for me when I begin my business. I should show them a vision, and what I expect to do from my work. It will help me develop leadership skills.

Week 12

 Week 12

Personally, I think that trust is one of the most important attributes in business especially in economy wide. No one is going to invest on someone who you can't really believe. In the reading assignments, it talked about virtue and integrity. I always thought that virtue is kind of hard to measure. However, people could tell that who is not virtue. Also, integrity is the same. The important thing is that people who work with you would recognize that you are virtue and integrity. It is hard to measure like what I wrote, but people can definitely tell those two. Because it is matter of money, honesty is crucial part of business. 

One thing I really liked was that Sarah talked about sprinting or running a marathon.  I think that marathon is proper way to describe the business. If I sprint a marathon, I will be easily tired, so I might give up. S said that marathon needs to manage energy, health, and etc. If I follow how I managed, I will be able to finish the marathon eventually. I have to see the business as long term plan. I might have to go through many difficulties, but my goal would just finish the marathon. I will have to keep running. That will bring me success.

Also, I learned that I have to do what I can do. Sometimes there are something that I cannot handle, so I often gave up doing things. However, I learned that even if I can't handle things, there are always things that I can do. I think if I continue to do what I can do, I will eventually get to where I can even handle more situations. I know that when I do things continuely, I will grow and become better person in the future.

Week11

 Week 11

I was able to think about work/life balance this week. When I was in the army, We were thinking about this a lot. As a soldier, we didn't have a lot of time to spend in my life. I worked and that was it. I guess it is kind of different from the life of entrepreneurs. I wasn't able to plan or manage my time, it was just up to higher rankers.  However, if I were an entrepreneur, I have to plan for myself as well as others. I have to take care of others' lives. If I don't take care of my work/life balance, most likely I wouldn't be able to take care of others. 

I was considering how I can make a balance between work and life. One thing, I thought of was to put my family first then work. I work for myself and my family. I know it is pretty basic, but I saw many people were not able to take care of their families because they were so busy with their work. Personally, work is something that I would do for my family, so it shouldn't cause a family problem. 

In mini case, I was able to see two different dilemmas. I might be in that situation in the future, so I was deeply thinking about those. What I figured is just to have a conversation with the family. When the family has healthy communication, it will prevent causing family conflicts. This was a really good topic to learn.

I have to find that what the most valuable is to me. Soon after I found what it is then I will be able to have specific guidance on what I want to achieve. It will make me motivated to continue to go on. All I can do is to try my best then everything would work out.

Week10

Week10

This week was really good. I got to have an interview with my interviewee. It was a great experience for me. I was able to go through his life. Started with who he was before he began his job. I have noticed that he was just a normal person. He was just an employee of the government. He got sick of his job, so he decided to run his own business. He failed a couple times. However, he continued to try new things, and eventually, he started to get success. He is a great example for me. I am glad that I am still young to try many things, and I got to hear the experiences that I haven't experienced. If I apply things that I learned this week in my life, I will be able to get success earlier. In order to take that chance, I have to be prepared myself.

Also, I have been reading through reading materials. It was all about the importance of having a big dream. I knew I have to have a big dream, and I did have a big dream when I was younger. However, I became mid-twenties, so I became realistic for my life. I thought I wasn't able to achieve my old dream because I am getting old. From the reading, I was able to feel encouraged to continue to go on. I understood what the purpose of a big dream is. It will motivate me to continue to grow. I think that if I recognize I am improved because of the dream, it will help me strive to achieve a big dream. I know it wouldn't come at once, but it will come at some point as long as I keep trying. I know there will be challenges, but I will be able to experience how to overcome and go forth to my big dream.

Week 9

 Week 9

This week, I was able to study through disciple leadership. I was able to study this on my mission. It reminded me of my mission. On the mission, there are many chances to serve as leaders. It means nothing, they are just the same missionary as others, but there are opportunities to interact with more missionaries, and they can help their missionary life. As leaders of the mission, there is a perfect example for us. He is Jesus Christ. Because of His example of leadership, I had a goal to achieve. He was kind and loving, but sometimes he rebuked people when it was needed.  I really want to focus on love. I think that love is the most important portion of leadership. When I was in the army, I worked hard when I felt love from my leader. I had so much desire to help him. I think it is going to be the same at work. If employees feel love from their boss, they wouldn't complain too much, and they would try their best to meet the expectation from the boss. I know it is hard to have good leadership for everyone, even Jesus Christ had enemies.y  However, I can try my best to develop my leadership skills.

Another thing that leaders should know is to know who they need to have on the bus. I think it is really important. It is not a good leader to have everyone on the bus together. The seats are not going to be enough. Especially, in business, you have to know who you need to work with because you wouldn't want to pay for someone that doesn't have the skills or use at work. It is really difficult to distinguish who you are going with or not, but a good leader would know and decide for his work.

I recognized that being a good leader is really difficult, and it will take time as well. However, I know as long as we follow the example of Christ, I would be a great leader at some point.

Week 8

 Week 8

This week, I was able to think about the challenges that I might have in the future in business as well as my life. Also, I thought about how I could overcome those. I talked about it on the discussion board. Since I haven't had a failing experience so far, I don't really know how difficult it is going to be. Because of that, I just guessed how to overcome those difficulties. One thing I recognized was that I should learn from the past. I shouldn't make the same mistakes over and over again. If I am humble myself and learn from the past, I can grow and become a better person as well as an entrepreneur.

One of the videos posted on the week 8 study is one of my favorite videos. It's called, "Good things to come." I watched this video a lot on my mission. I was able to learn that how important patience is. This video basically talks about God's timing. As long as we are faithful to the Lord, the blessings will follow according to the timing of God. It might be frustrating, so many people just give up. I know that God knows what is good for us. All we need to do is work diligently to overcome those trials, so we can avoid the same mistakes. I enjoyed that video.

I desired to experience only good things in my future, so I don't have to go through those hard times. However, if I don't go through those difficulties, I wouldn't know how to handle those situations. I know that we have to learn throughout this life. Without learning and experiencing, I wouldn't be able to grow as a child of God. Also, because of those experiences, I could help my family as well. I hope I don't complain too much when those hard times come to me.
